Chapter 13 Bankruptcy

In a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, the court usually allows you to drastically reduce the amount you must pay back to unsecured creditors and catch up on mortgage payments that have fallen behind. The primary purpose of Chapter 13 is to stop your mortgage lender or auto lender from seizing your home or car. Chapter 13 allows you 36 to 60 months to catch up on the amount you are behind. Chapter 13 writes down unsecured debts to a fraction of their face amount while providing full payment to secured creditors.

For a Chapter 13, we require only $85 down if you are single, or $120 down if you are married. These up-front charges cover the cost of the credit reports and the first certificate of credit counseling. Our $1,800 service fee and the court's $275 filing fee may be financed over 36 to 60 months.
